Fairies are whispered about in legends and “fairy” tales, supposedly the stuff of folklore, yet every culture speaks of these nature spirits. The name “faerie” is derived from many cultures and can be translated to, “green friend,” “fate,” or “enchantment.”
Green is the color of the Fay or the color most commonly associated with nature fairies who commonly adorn themselves with leaves and berries and objects they find amusing, and that can be carried easily or swept away on the wind.
When looking for fairies, they often can be seen near or sitting upon brightly colored spotted toadstools. While the red spotted toadstool Fly Agaric or Amanita Muscaria is poisonous to humans they are not so to fairies and often mark the entrance to a fairy village or dwelling. A ring of red toadstools marks the ground where fairies dance, and should be left undisturbed.
Nature fairies often bring healing magic and good energy to the environments they inhabit, and often their singing and music can be heard carried on the breeze. This nature fairy sits and discusses the events of the last dance with her ladybug-friend.
